TOM TWOPENY
Tom aspires to design timeless and functional pieces and as one of South Australia's grape growers and wool producers, Tom's passion for furniture and design stretches back to his day as a homewares buyer for
exclusive Melbourne department store Georges. He moved to the Barossa Valley to raise his family and while working the land created one of Australia's most famous Bed and Breakfast, Warrenda, with his So. At 36 Tom returned to
study and completed a degree in Industrial Design at the University of South Australia. His works have been commissioned for the National Wine Centre, The Adelaide Convention Centre and Briedgewater Mill.
Inspired by Alvar Aalto Tom has designed a range of stools and low tables that have an 'urban edge'. Rather than reinvent the wheel Tom developed a concept that would extrapolate into different concepts and possibilities and from the use of different materials and finishes change the look and application of the product. The top fasteners also a feature offering uniqueness and fun without affecting its timeless nature.
